My partner and I have booked our first trip to PR in August, we are staying at Corona Rosa. We plan to have a full packed 2 weeks, any activities we must do? Would also like any reviews/opinions on Corona Rosa?
Ive also heard it gets quite hot, anybody know how hot it really gets in Aug?
Thanks.

Thanks, sounds extremely hot! Will be taking plenty of cream I think. Sounds as though there are plenty of things to do, I'm sure we will have a good go at expriencing the majority of what PR as to offer.

jen,
i think your apartments are next to the jacaranda where we stayed a couple of years ago, although we did not go into one,, some of the people we spoke to said they were very good apartments, they have a very good pool and a poolbar thats serves meals and a minimarket, they are right on the top of the hill which is ok going down to the beach and commercial center where you will find all the bars and restaraunts you will ever need, but I recomend a taxi back ( only a couple of euro's) as it is steep climb back up, also try the europa shops and bars as they are very good as well...the trips from the harbour are a great day out we went on the san miguel sail ship and enjoyed every minute,

as Steveyermate says these are situated at the top of the valley with the balconies overlooking the agua la perra centre. Nice apartments, a steady 15/20 mins (max) downhill walk into PR (not in high heeled shoes though!) or 5 mins and about 2.5 euros in a taxi. You can use the pool in the apartments or at the Jacaranda next door. Baking hot in August so take plenty of high factor and stay out of the sun between at least 12 and 3. Its still lovely and warm on the beach at 7.30 and later at that time of year.

the best way to describe the location of the corona rosa is.................walk out of mcdonalds, stop as you go outside the main door, look up the top of the hill thats in front of you.at the very top of the hill is a road (which you cannot see from where your standing).thats where the corona rosa is.(nowhere near the europa ):banghead:

The Corona Rosa is up next to Jacaranda Apts, Aquasol Apts and Malibu Apts. There is a supermarket directly across the road. The balconies all have superb views of the Marina and out to sea. The pool area is nice and there is a pool bar.
There are steps at the back that lead you down into the Agua La Perra Centre, where there are bars and restaurants, or you can walk down the hill to the main commercial centre...a 10 minute walk...where you will find everything you need to enjoy your holiday....but I guess you'll be spending more time doing other things, if it's your honeymoon.

Hi everyone,
I'm off on holiday to PR in just over a weeks time and have just been looking at reviews for the corona rosa (where I'm stoppin) on the net. A lot of the reviews i've read which are from this year don't seem to good, and to be honest i'm a bit worried about going now! :-s
I was just wondering if theres anyone who's already stopped there this year and just wanna know an honest opinon of what its like, 'cause have read loads of bad things like loads of cockroaches in the hotel rooms, and wild cats peeing everywhere!!
Thanks!

Not sure where you have been reading but the latest review on holidays uncovered is all right and that was only last month

Resort Rating: Excellent
Accommodation Rating: Good
My/Our Holiday Opinion:
The hotel is at the top of a high hill, due to this there are beautiful views of the harbour. It is a short walk to the main shopping areas and beach, but i advise a taxi back but the prices are cheap. One taxi driver was quiet rude, but i know spanish to his suprise, so perhaps learn a litle before going to avoid situations like this. I would say this was the worst point of the holiday.
The hotel was "no frills" but very clean and lots of room, the staff are exceptionally helpfull, you need to leave your apart my 12 but they allow you to have a shower and change for perhaps an evening meal in another apartment.

Cockroaches are part of gran canaria. You get them everywhere from the smallest apartments to the biggest hotels. Keep your windows and doors closed when you are not in the apartment and if you spot one shove a glass over it and the maids usually clear them away

Thanks for the info chorlton! Didnt realise that get them everywhere in pr, and glad to hear that the maids are nice enough to take care of them 'cause i really can't stand insects n bugs!!

Theres no infestation by any means but cockroaches are one of the insects that are present on the whole of the island. You can spot them on the streets sometimes but they aren't overly fond of humans and hate the light so if you leave a light on when you go out that will also put them off. There is a thread here on the site about peoples experiences with them http://www.canaryforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1332&highlight=cockroaches
I stayed at the Corona rosa years ago and whilst I havent been back its not one of the places you hear bad reports about. Its very high up in the resort so sun most of the day by the pool, you can also use the pool at the Jacaranda next door.

Has any one got any info on these apartments, stayed at the aquacanis a few years ago i think they around that area.

No - not near the Aquacanis - much higher up and further round than that. They are situated really high up in the resort looking down onto the valley that the Aquacanis is in and the Agua La Perra Centre. Been maybe 10 years now since I stayed here - they share the facilities with the next door Jacaranda so you can use both pools etc.
If you look on this link at the street map and count down 4 squares from the right and then in one you will see them http://www.canaryforum.com/gc/smallmap.html
To get down from there the road winds down round past the Vallemar. If on foot you can then head to the right and there are some stairs past the Cala Nova which bring you out by the minigolf near the main CC. If you go left at the Vallemar there are a series of steps then that bring you out near the park and towards the main beach.
From Corona Rosa there are also some steps you can cut down to the Agua La Perra centre.

In recent years some of the steps are getting into bad repair. Its not the safest route. The walk to both the beach and comercial center is good, easy down hill walking with a good sea view part of the way. The way back is easier. Get a cab!
The steps to the left of Vallemar is very steep. Although it feels more direct, it is quicker going the road way.
