Hi ,
This is all new to me, i have never been to Gran Canaria before but myself and my hubby would like to give it a go in november this year, has any one any info on any good apartments that are reasonably quiet, in a good location, we do not like to be near the night life but want to be a reasonable walking distance to restaurants and bars etc....

I think it best for you if you were on top of the hill something like 5mins from the Europa centre which is smaller than the main Commercial centre and mainly hassle free . The views are great. You'd need something along the likes of Riosol, Altamar, Nido del Aguila, Blue Star depending how much you want to pay..November should be quiet were ever you stay.Good Luck

owen has good deals on them try for a quote browse here http://www.islascanariastours.com/1016/ab1016.html

Rab C is correct these look excellent apartments. We were very tempted ourselves but the one thing that put us off this area .... time share touts. They might have been moved on i dont know ( i hope so) but when we were there they were crawling everywhere...

They are around the whole resort. Certainly no worse near Marina Suites than the Europa Area. Its not a major poroblem. Just keep walking and ignor them.

if you like peace and quiet but within walking distance of bars and restaurants try the marina area or up the other valley away from the c.c.

Well i can only speak from my own experience and that is the Time share touts are most prominent around the marina and PR beach area. The Europa has the odd one but nothing like down the hill. Player de Amadores beach has no touts as far as i know, ive never seen any which is great as this is the better of the two beaches. As for just saying no and walking away thats fine but they dont take no for a answer.Dont get me wrong,i can look after myself and tell these people where to go,but thats not the point.I'm on holiday and dont need any hassle.

hi
we stayed in the marina suites in december and they are ideal for quiet accomadation. no noise at all.as we had 3 young kids with us we found it quite easy to sleep at night with it being quiet.timeshare touts are still there but not at the marina suites-- about 5min walk away youll meet them, but there unavoidable as they are all around puerto rico.mogan resort further up from puerto rico has no timeshare touts there yet, and there is now plenty of accomadation in the area.it is more quieter than pr no nightclubs but a few bars with entertainment finishing around midnight.

Colina Mar is also handy for the europa centre.
Good apartments, two pools and always lots going on.

hi libbyo
where do the touts hang out.i was in mogan for 2 days in dec and never seen them or hassled by any of them, didnt see any on the beach or around the newly built shops.when we where there we thought it would be a great place to stay as you could walk around in peace without being stopped by them.we love pr and every year we go to it we find theres more timeshare touts than the previous year.

You were lucky. They are usually around the new shops and bridge between the restaurant/ venice area and the beach.
It has to be said though, that there are less than there was everywhere. To me it really isnt as big a problem as it was 2-3 years ago.

Also the colina mar has got to be one of the best for the view, as it over looks most of the resort worth going just for that.

Just ignor them. They are NOT a problem.
Certainly Mogan, or Tauro have many less touts, and are quiter, but its up to you to decide what you are looking for in your holiday.

I havn't been pestered by touts for my last 4 visits to PR although I have seen them.
If I did, I wouldn't let it spoil my holiday, just hold up your hand, say No thanks and just keep walking. The next time you pass they dont bother.

Not always as easy as that, in 2004 I was followed, verbally abused ( actually screamed at ) for over 100 metres by a timeshare tout, from the entrance to the park towards McDonalds. Due to my physical size and health issues I'm certainly in no condition to give anyone a kick in the fork but I was SORELY tempted.

Splitting hairs I know, but I bet it was not an Anfi Lout but one of those ones with the scratch cards. They are a pain. Hopefully they will all depart soon like the looky looky ladies have! Anfi lot do leave you alone.

The looky looky ladies have migrated to Costa Teguise for christmas this year. What a pain they were coming into restaurants and cafes and walking round the tables. Looky looky man as well. The staff didnt seem to bother that they were there annoying their paying customers !!
