Hey Plp I've got another Question to ask I've heard of quite afew plp that the Spanish are quite rude towards English plp. Is this true?
I've decided that we are defo gonna go to Playa Del Ingles to the Taraman Apartments. Has anybody stayed in these apartments ?
If so are they any good ? It say's in the brochure that they have a Seawater swimming pool does that mean it's gonna be really salty lol ??
Thanks Plp xx :thankyou: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

The spanish people are just like people anywhere towards tourists when you're in tourist areas. Some are extremely nice and some thinks it is annoying that you're around.. Spanish people are mostly very warm and helpful - even wants to help you cross the street if there is heavy traffic, and things like that:laugh: Believe me, I've tried it!
If you greet them with an "hola" they will light up and if they meet you a lot, you will end up being invited into their home and almost become a member of their family.
I have met few spanish people though in areas with a lot of tourists who acted like they where angry that you are there and that you don't speak spanish. Mostly middelaged women..

The spanish are fine. Respect their country and they will respect you. Attempt a little spanish and they will love you for it - a simple Hola or gracias will do

Now don't all gang up on me and shoot me down!:veryangry: but i would also just like to add that after living here 15 years,i would say "generally" that the Spainsh are by a long way far more freindly than the british people are.Infact we were taliking about this only yesterday.BUT,yes i said "BUT" it does of course make a huge difference if you speak there language.

I agree with all the above, and have found the Spanish to be warm, friendly, and generous. My policies are "treat others as you would like to be treated yourself", and "when in Rome; etc".
I use "please" and "thank you" in England, so why differ in Spain? However, I have to admit that I am disappointed in myself that I can not speak Spanish.

Yes i agree with you exactly! not with not speaking spanish(you wouldn't need it much in Bedford! lol)But yes i agree "always treat others as you would like to be treated yourself! I consider myself to be very polite and well mannered(ask Mary!! lol) but i know i can be a bit eccentric and "Overfreindly" at times but i am just a friendly person! I collected a client(female) the other day and as always i opened the car door for her,her response was by giving me a filthy look!!! Why? don't they do that in the uk anymore????

I would just like to add to my above"friendly" statement viewers that i had to be in the "Employment office" this morning in San Fenando(to help a friend) and after thinking i would be in there for hours in a "disorganized mess" viewers,i have to say how organized it all was and how "POLITE" the gentleman was looking after us.I was delighted with the hospitality and even went back to shake the mans hand.
Excellent!!!!
:thankyou:

I personally feel it is very rude or should I say arrogant to go to another country & expect everyone to talk & listen to us jabbering away in English. Although I am not very good (yet) at Spanish I do try. I wouldn't say I am finding it very easy but gradually the vocab is improving.

I agree with every thing that 2-islandangie says, we spend a lot of time in there country.
So I think it is the least we can do is try to make the effort, I am very lucky that someone has given me a helping hand and I will be doing my best to learn.

the police are also a lot friendlier if you speak spanish. my friend and i went to ask them for directions and they drove us there. i definitely agree that if you try to speak spanish people are a lot friendlier.

yes, you should speak their Language....
even if you are asking for directions, just slip in the odd word, and you tend to get a lot further.
The police..... that tends to scare me. i imagine i would say something wrong and get arrested!
i learn a lot from the hotel people...... it's suprising...
Marcus, a female client??? should i ask??
lol
