i actually worked in Fanabe but this hotel was in the stage of being built so dont know it , the beach is very good and less crowded than PDLA and the restaraunts are good and plentiful , just watch for timeshare touts especially in a pub called The Lord Nelson and The Conservatory(??) thye will and are told to catch you in those pubs (the locals from Sunterra(TLN) and teh real dodgy ones in teh conservatory
The market is a short stroll down the prom and is worth a look and also Puerto Colon and Torviscas are a walk along the coast
here are some reviews i found for you

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
Travellers accustomed to 4* luxury will be disappointed with this hotel. The hotel is listed as a 4* but this is a generous rating. It is in need of refurbishment throughout.
The cleanliness and service was good.
The choice of food was good although it could have been a little hotter.
There are 2 swimming pools but both are in shade for periods of the day. The sunbeds around the pools are limited and cramped. They are always taken by 8am.
Located on a busy main road which is noisy throughout the day and night. In easy reach of shops, bars and the beach which is about a 10 minutes walk away. The beach is sandy and clean with bars and a first aid station at hand.
The resort of Fanabe is clean and hassle free, at least in November.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
Just arrived back from our best half term holiday ever !!!!.
We had read mixed reviews on this hotel and did not know what to expect.
On arrival the hotel does look like a multi-story car park, but once you walk through the court yard you will soon change your mind.
We arrived at 4.30am and were meet by a lovely man on receiption, who quickly alocated us our rooms.
The rooms were very spacious (1 x twin bedded room + pull out double bed in lounge, large family bath room)and more importantly SPOTLESSLY CLEAN.
In the morning we all were presented with our i.d. photo cards (a lot better than wrist bands and also means that you can relax because the children a can only get pop and ice creams with their cards)
The food was bril with plenty of choice, the fish was especially good. The chief also cooks a good selection of veggie dishes.
Both pools were very clean and you don't have to get up at 6am to get a sun bed !!!.
Everyday the sun beds and pool side was scrubbed clean and the pool area was spotless.
The entertainment team were very good and catered for all ages 3-17.
We enjoyed most of the evening entertainment( saturday is the main changeover day so no entertainment other than bingo)
A tip for older families :- the mini disco finishes about 9.30, so most people with young families vacate their tables, so you can normally find a table a little closer to the stage.
We booked two trips (Mt Teide & 3 hour boat trip.) direct with the hotel and both were first class.
I'm just off to the travel agents to re book for next year.

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
We have just returned for a week's holiday at the Hotel Isla Bonita and had an excellent time. The hotel itself isnt exactly easy on the eye, and as someone mentioned does look like a multi storey car park from the outside. However inside the rooms are very clean and spacious. There is a seperate 'living' area, bedroom and bathroom. There are patio doors in the living area and in the bedroom both leading to the same balcony. there is a little kitchentte which contains an oven and fridge. We were in block B. The only thing I would say was annoying was that our balcony looked out to the side of the hotel and at about 4am every morning a lorry would come to empty the bins and it was VERY loud! it lasted about 15 minutes but enough to wake me up.
TV in your room. Only english channels were CNN and Sky News but you dont really come on hols to watch TV.
Maids very good - everything always kept very tidy.
The meals I have to say I was very impressed with. Breakfast there is everything you could imagine, cereals, toast, bread, jams, honey, cheese, meat, yoghurts, pastries, full english brekkie, fruit juice - also bucks fizz! Lunch time and evening meals there was a wide variety of food. you could have a bottle of red white or rose wine with your meal which was included in the all inclusive package - im quite fussy about wine but have to say it wasnt bad! The staff were very pleasant (bar staff and waiters), we had no problems with queing for a seat - longest wait maybe a coupleof minutes and the waiter took you to a table.
We took out a picnic one day as well which the hotel provides. Contained, bread, cheese, ham, jam, tomatoes, butter, pate, fruit, fruit juice, water.
The drinks were very good as well during the day - plenty to chose from. Ice cream available throughout the day.
Cant really give any review on the entertainment- not really my sort of thing - but it looked ok! Same for the pool area i never spent any time there but it looked very clean and there always seemed to be sunbeds available.
There was also a games hut at the back of the hotel (pool, air hockey which was very old and didnt work too well), pinball machine etc etc and table tennis.
As for the resort, it was v good. plenty of different tourist shops, bars and cafes. Beware of the 'timeshare' people. I met an old couple who had been ripped off, been told to come to a bar to collect a bottle of whiskey and the owner knew nothing about it!! If you say no thanks most of them leave it, however we did come across a couple of obnoxious ones!
the hotel is about a 5 min walk from the beach front. however it is on a slight incline so maybe not suitable for people with walking difficulties.
We ate out one evening for our anniversary and would recommed the restaurant very highly, couer de filet - you will find it in the playe de fanabe shopping centre. the food was very very good! a little on the expensive side but well worth it!
We also hired a car through Orcar, they are v cheap and the car was good. went to Mt Teide and also Loa Gigantes in a day - worked out cheaper than organised excursions.
All in all - i would highly recommend the hotel and resort, was slightly worried about the hotel by reading some of the reviews but have to say it was very very good. There were a couple of hotels in the resort that looked fantastic from the outside and on returning home i have read the reviews and am so glad i didnt go - looks can be very decpeptive!!
Got a very good deal as well we only paid £780 for both of us for a week all inclusive!!

Yep the market is a weekly one but also there is a daily one there , you will see it no prob as you walk from where your hotel is staright along the Prom that runs along the beach and the market is at the end up some stairs and into a car park area ,
hope this helps , best thing is look at the prom on a sunday morning(i think) and watch where everyone is going , one of the nearest hotels to the market is called the Sunset Harbour
http://www.canaries-live.com/UK/americas-map.html
this will help your hotel is on the left hand side , just below it you will see a place called royal sunset , opposite are two streets taht go to the beach , these are predestrian only and are mainly bars and restaraunts they are very very steep , and at the bottom is the prom , turn left and walk to where it says centro commercial Torviscas and the market is there
word of warning about those bars with touts in both of those bars are on the street opposite to the royal sunset the street on the right as you look THERE ARE AND WILL BE A LOT OF TOUTS, PR's ETC AROUND THE ROYAL SUNSET AS SUNTERRA EUROPE's HQ and MAIN SELLING DECK IS BELOW THAT HOTEL
