before the forum got messed about, someone had asked about their health card and that it wasnt accepted in GC and were trying to claim back a payment on their insurance.
The European health card shows you are an EU citizen and so are entitled to free NHS care. NHS care is available only at the centro de salud in Arguineguin and Maspalomas and the 2 hospitals in Las Palmas . Insular and Negrin. None of these places can turn you away if you need care.
You may have to pay for an ambulance if you have been put in a private one. Try and ensure that '112' is called for a NHS ambulance if necessary.
If you attend any other clinic ie, Atlantico, British Medical, Scandinavia, Orinico, Euro clinic - they are private. You can claim your payments on your insurance but you may find that the insurance company will only reimburse you over the inital 50 pounds.
