Hi everyone - belated Happy New Year to you all!:boozy:

Just received confirmation for my accommodation for next trip in Mid January. Am staying yet again at the Carlota.

When I was there in September there was building work next door at the Tamanaco - remodelling the entrance - but it didn't cause too me much disruption / distraction (spend most of my days doing a "Marcus" strolling to the harbour then Amordores - LOL).

Can anyone shed any light on the current state of building work round the place?

Thanks in advance.

We are regulars that stay in the CARLOtA, All building work has finished, when we were there last October, all the aparments have been refurbished, and finished, so you have no worries about building work.
Enjoy your stay, we'll be there in May.

There was a thread from a Mrs Aberdeen before the parasites took this site down, who visited these apts in early November and she said that it looked like the pool bar area at the Carlota appeared to be in the process of refurbishment. A group of us are going back to here in March (another repeat visit to the Carlota. 3 times now) and would be grateful if anyone can shed any light as to if this work is now complete.

Regards.

Thanks for that. Didn't know that there was work taking place at the Carlota - no sign when I was there in September, only the ones next door!

I'll post an update at the end of January when I get back.

Cheers

Can anybody tell me which holiday company have the Tamanaco and the Carlota this year. ? They are not coming up on any holiday searches on the net.

Tamanaco - used by and shown on My Travel. However there was extensive building work on the entrance when I was next door at the Carlota in September 2005. Perhaps it's been temporarily withdrawn pending completion of the work. I think BLUEMOONSTEVE may be able to update re Mytravel.

Carlota - I've never seen this advertised in the usual tour operator's brochures. I always book through either www.alpharooms.com (http://www.alpharooms.com) or www.apartmentsabroad.co.uk (http://www.apartmentsabroad.co.uk) who both act as agent for Viajes Barcelo. I did notice a couple of companies shown on the noticeboard but I can't recall their names (possibly Irish or Scandi companies). Interestingly when I booked for the Carlota just before New Year for the week commencing 16 January, accommodation was only available on the apartmentsabroad site, but when I checked at the beginning of this week neither site showed anything available for that week or the following!

Hope this helps.

not 100% but i am sure the Tamanco has been withdrawn and as the number of complexes in PR have been reduced i think it will be more permanent than Temporary , definately depends on the visitors this summer BUT i hope that the operators take the world cup into the equation it would be no use selling out this year then next year increasing capacity to find that no one is going again and then the same knock on effect of people going where its more lively

Thanks for the replies , We have always stayed at the Tamanaco in the past as it is handy for the commercial centre and is not noisy. But there are plenty of other apartments to choose from.:thumb:
