1/ el cortijo just outside las palmas
2/ the real club de golf bandana

4/ maspalomas just up from the sand dunes may be your best bet it sits within a nature reserve i have been round this one a few times also neares to pdi. on the outskirts.

also the 5th one houses the new sheraton also just outside maspalomas but just cannot remember what it is called at the moment but ithink it is called the sheraton salobre maspalomas opening mid 2006 someone will correct me if im wrong

The golf course in Tauro - 9 holes i think
Salobre golf - outside maspalomas
meloneras golf
bandama golf course outside Las Palmas

So no different than Rab's list. There has been a big promotion on the golf courses on the island. I'm sure if you search on google you'll find out more. if so, post it on here so we all know

hi
only played 2 courses on gc.so here goes el salobre the newest course on the island is a very good testing course.buggies are compulsory and included in the price along with scoecard/ course planner /pencil/ bottled water /and ball cleaner .when you arrive 1 of the staff take your clubs from your transport and taken to your buggie .10 mins before your tee time you will be called to the 1st tee.when finished your clubs are taken again and cleaned and wiped and taken to a collection point .if you are a 2 ball or on ya todd you will be coupled.with another 2 ball.not many brits about so expect mainly norsk or germans.beware though they tend to bend the rules a bit mulligans ect.and have a compulsory picnic on the tenth.good banter though.prices vary i have played many times and never paid the same price tell them you are stopping at anfi or tauro.there again tell them any hotel and you will get discount.excpect to pay between 55 & 90 euros thats how sill the pricing is.

mapalomas is ok you dont get looked after as well and basically its find your own way around but course is good .prices are not negotiable well not to me anyway so its around about 75 e

9 holes at tauro is fine for your par 3 practice.and is in a1 condition the 18 hole course was to be inspected by the pga in dec and should be open by the time you arrive

hope this helps

Well viewers,i remember many years ago being the ¨sovereign Golf¨ rep for ¨Bandama golf club¨ here on the island. It is sited way up in the hills.Do you know something viewers, don´t tell anybody will you? but i have never met so many ¨Golf Snobs¨under one roof! They all used to gather in the club house wearing blazors like ¨the major¨ from ¨faulty towers¨(have you got the picture viewers?)
But joking apart,i met some lovely people, and a wonderful golf course with it´s own hotel and outside pool.( a very difficult course may i add) with wonderful scenery.

Bandama golf course is lovely to walk around or park in theri car park and walk around the caldera of bandama - the ring of the volcano. We used to live very near htere and our main view was of Bandama.
Quite a pricey course I understand

Hi

Leading on from my previous thread, I have been given the unwelcome task of booking these games:

Saturday 11 Nov Las Palmas Golf
Monday 13 Nov Salobre Gold CLub
Tuesday 14 Nov Maspalomas Golf Club
Wednesday 15 Nov El Cortijo Club de Campo
All tee times about 10.00

As I know nothing about golf or where to start any help would be appreciated:ph34r:

Go to Tauro golf club reception and ask the girl there - or Nicola, the golf pro - she may have some phone numbers for you or even do it for you

hi swanny
the easiest way to book is to pass this link on to your friends as deposits are required to book golf courses in gran canaria.
this link is the easy way but you have to know everyones handicap which you will probably need any way if you go direct to any of the courses
http://www.teetimesanywhere.com/destinations/map_canaria.asp
you have to register but this is def the easy way.

There is a golf course in Tauro which isn't that far away from Puerto Rico. It's currently just a 9 hole course, take a look at this link. It may be worth giving them a call to find out prices and if they hire clubs etc.

Hi,

Anyone been to Anfi Tauro complex? I am coming over for a week on Monday 26th November. I have stayed in the other Anfi resort before as my mum has a time share there, but she has managed to get us into Anfi Emerald.

Anyone know if Anfi Tauro has its own beach? I know it has a golf course but I am unsure if the restaurants on the complex are up and running yet as it is fairly new. Which beach is the nearest to there? Also, is the big market still on in Mogan?

Can anyone suggest any days out for if the weather is a little iffy? We will have a hire car. Only on BBC Weather GC is forecast for some rain!!!

Gracias Cheeky and Hammy.

Anfi Tauro sounds just right. Not got kids. Wanna chill out for the week.
Amadores beach it is then. Can't wait to see if I can get 'Asda Price' at the market in Mogan!

No puedo esperar a tomar el sol y beber mucha cerveza!!

Adios!

Restaurant wise we have anfi grill here close to the spar or a bit further into the old part of Tauro, cafe le paris which does great breakfasts and tapas. Anfi grill is pricey and would be better hopping in a cab and going into rico or along to amardores to be honest.

Isn't everyone forgetting the super excellent restaurant in Tauro, by the highway to Mogán straight down from the new hotels and golf courses? Restaurante Guantanamo is one of the best in the south in my opinion, does not look like much, I admit, from the outside, but great food.

Can anyone tell me what days the markets are on and whether Mogan

All the markets sell exactly the same things, Arguineguin is on tuesdays and thursdays and Mogan on fridays. I always say to people if you are going to see Mogan then go any day but a friday as it is chaos down there. Mogan would be closer to Tauro if you are driving and if you wanted a bigger market then San fernando one is the better which is on a saturday or wednesday.

Just across the road is Tauro Grill. It used to only open at lunchtime but now its started doing evenings with live music some nights. I havent been but have heard several good reports.

Does anyone know the average price for a round of golf around PR. I know Tauro has a course and Ive heard its about the same as the UK but my son is coming over with me in July and is mad on golf. Also does anyone know whether sets of clubs are available for hire and the costs to do this.
