Gran Canaria Towns & Resorts

Taurito

Taurito is a small, quiet resort on the south-west corner of Gran Canaria. It’s home to just a handful of hotels and apartment complexes facing over a dark-sand beach and almost all with great sea views as they face out of a cove and over the ocean.

There’s always plenty of space on the beach for sunbathing. There’s a few shops and cafes down by the beach also and a surprisingly good choice of water sports for such a small resort.

If you prefer the pool to the beach then maybe the “Lago” might appeal to you. Though billed as a water-park complete with slides and wave pools there’s  plenty of space to lounge and relax including a lazy river. The water park is free for guests staying at the Lago Taurito hotels.

Plenty of development was planned here before the crisis hit but is expected to start again in 2014 as the GC1 motorway has now been extended and connects the resort with the bigger and busier resort of Puerto Rico in little over 5 minutes (was once a 20 minute cliff-top drive) making it much easier to get out and about. Five minutes round the corner is the popular and picturesque resort of Puerto de Mogan.
