Gran Canaria Towns & Resorts

San Agustin

San Agustin is one of the first of a succession of resorts has you head south from the airport and is almost an extension of Playa del Ingles, the two lie side-by-side.

Though one of the smaller resorts it’s very busy all year round. The winter months fill well in advance as Scandinavians booked months at a time. The large private hospital here means those retired with medical conditions feel safer staying close by.

During the summer there’s very much an international crowd and a lot of the locals have properties here or come down to the resort each week-end.

The beach is a blue flag beach and though it rarely fills to capacity, a short walk along the promenade takes you to neighbouring Las Burras beach which is even bigger.

The large commercial centre tries to offer entertainment, bars and restaurants but it’s not the most attractive of centres nor is it very popular. Visitors don’t want to head into a dark and dingy shopping centre when there’s lovely warm weather outside day and night. If you really want some nightlife catch a cab 10 minutes into the centre of Playa del Ingles for around 5 euros.
