If you're staying in the south of Gran Canaria as most people do, you´ll quickly notice that almost everything was purpose built for tourism. Most of it was built over the last 30 years and you travel down to the south on the motorway from the airport which has to be the worst 30 or 45 minute drive you could do anywhere on the island.
Don´t let that put you off exploring a little as there really is a wealth of culture and spectacular scenery around the island. The south is known for it´s desert-like climate and landscape which is great if you´re here for the sun and the beaches but the north is where all the Spanish/Canarian towns and capital city are, the west and center have mountains (2,000 feet high), lakes, forests and villages (people still live in caves in some areas in the center!). Las Palmas itself is a big city which takes a day alone to see and that´s if you don´t stop for shopping.
We have found a selection of tours to keep you busy any day of the week and at a price much lower than the tour operators. One of the reasons is for most of our tours, a set lunch (usually chicken & chips) isn't included in the cost but of course there is a lunch stop where you can select your own lunch from a menu. We can arrange these for you either in advance over the Internet or in person at your hotel once you're here.
Prices start from 19 euros per adult and 15 euros per child for the half day tours and 29 euros per adult and 19 euros per child for the full day tours here on Gran Canaria.
For small (or large) groups rather than join one of our guided tours we can arrange for a private tour exclusive to your group, with or without guide at the prices below:
| 1 - 4 people 170 euros - half day 320 euros - full day |
|
|
7-10 people |
11-15 people |
For groups of 7 people or more an official guide is provided and included in the price for full day tours. For groups of 1-6 people or all half-day tours there is no guide, rather an English-speaking driver though an official guide can be arranged for an additional 150 euros if required.
Staying in Las Palmas for just a day and arriving in the port on one of the cruise ships?
Using the prices above you have plenty of time to visit some of the island's more typical towns, see the countryside in the north, the mountains in the center and perhaps time left over to see the 500 year-old histroic quarter of Las Palmas.
Below is our selection of organised tours on Gran Canaria which can all be pre-booked and leave from the south of the island:
